Workshops at Fuller Craft Museum offer students of all ages the opportunity to explore the endless possibilities of craft media. Educational programming includes everything from classes for children and teens, to weekend workshops for adults. We strive to make learning at Fuller Craft Museum available to students of all levels and interests.

We are currently seeking Teaching Artists experienced in one or more of the following craft media, for our Fall 2017 Session:

  • Clay/Ceramics
  • Metals/Jewelry
  • Fiber
  • Wood
  • Glass

Fall 2017 Session is September 14 –Dec 10, 2017 (no classes on Thanksgiving holiday 11/23 – 11/25).

We offer weekend intensive workshops in addition to weekly evening classes on Thursdays. Please visit our website to see our current course offerings.

Qualifications:
Candidates should have excellent communication skills, be punctual, prepared, creative, and be able to communicate with museum administration. Previous teaching experience and Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.

Internships

[toggles] Internships at Fuller Craft Museum are exciting opportunities for upperclass college and graduate students looking to pursue a career in museums. Interns are accepted on a rolling basis as can be accommodated. Applicants should be undergrad or graduate students and be able to commit to 8-15 hours per week. Those interested in interning are encouraged to apply early, before the college semester begins.

[toggles] [toggle title=”Marketing Intern: Social Media”] Marketing: Social Media Intern Fuller Craft Museum seeks an intern to work in the Marketing Department on our social media strategy. We seek a highly motivated individual who enjoys social media: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Hootsuite, blogging, micro blogging, pictures, copy, videos. A good candidate genuinely enjoys interacting with people online and can maintain a steady flow of engaging and informative content to our fans, while brainstorming ways to build our audience. College upperclassmen or graduate students majoring in Marketing or Communications are preferred. Candidate must have strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent organizational skills, and a wide range of computer skills. Intern responsibilities will include:

Fuller Craft Museum seeks an Intern to manage the kiln work for the Ceramics programs and workshops and as well as providing assistance and support for smooth day-to-day functioning of the Ceramics Studio at Fuller Craft Museum. This position is primarily responsible for doing kiln work, carrying out material processes, testing, assistance with equipment maintenance, some teaching, monitoring Open Studio, and communicating with teachers and others working in ceramics in the Studio.

Qualifications:

    • A Senior or advanced studies in Ceramics, currently in a degree-seeking program, or comparable training required.
    • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in the field of ceramics required.
    • Strong overall knowledge of ceramic arts, the history of ceramics, as well as pottery-making techniques.
    • Experience firing, loading, and unloading electric kilns.
    • Experience and knowledge of glaze usage, mixing, and testing.
    • Experience with the pottery wheel and commonly used supplies/equipment/tools found in a pottery studio.
    • Teaching experience preferred.
    • Proven ability to work in a team-driven environment.
    • Dependable, positive attitude, mission-driven.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Self-directed, energetic, highly motivated, and outcome-oriented.
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

We are looking for an Event Planning Intern to assist the Rentals Coordinator with planning of a Bridal Fair as well as other administrative duties of the rentals department. The Event Planning Intern will:

  • Work closely with the Rentals Coordinator to provide an exceptional experience to our rental parties and organize a unique, creative bridal fair experience
  • Assist in responding to inquiries regarding rentals
  • Reach out to vendors to buy table space at the Bridal Fair
  • Assist in the marketing and promoting the Bridal Fair, as well as promoting the Museum’s rental space in general
  • Assist with the administration of events on the rentals calendar, communicating necessary information to rental parties, caterers, other vendors, and museum staff
  • Deliver excellent customer service-is articulate and helpful in order to ensure rental events are properly managed
  • Have a friendly and professional manner

Qualifications: Strong organizational skills, computer skills, communication skills, and ease with multitasking are all required. Applicants should be undergraduate or graduate students majoring in Arts Administration, Event Planning, or other relevant major. Volunteer

At Fuller Craft Museum, we offer visitors the opportunity to enhance their appreciation of contemporary craft through guided tours and lively conversations.

We are currently seeking volunteers who enjoy working with the public and assisting visitors to share the Museum’s exhibitions and collection with the general public by conducting guided tours. Museum tours are approximately 45 to 60 minutes in length and focus on key points of our current exhibitions and collection and are a vital link between the Museum and its visitors.

Museum Educators-in-Training complete an introductory training seminar, study selected readings, are paired with a Mentor, and shadow other Museum Educators on guided tours to gain knowledge and skills in interpretive strategies and touring techniques for groups.
Commitment: Must be available year-round, Attend twice monthly team meetings to learn new programs, explore content, practice activities and share ideas. Fuller Craft Museum Educators deliver program experiences mostly on weekday mornings, as well as occasional weekends. Demand is heaviest in the fall through late spring, though programs take place throughout the year, including the summer months.

REQUIREMENTS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE FULLER CRAFT DOCENT PROGRAM

· Be at least 18 years old of age.

· Enjoy meeting and working with new people.

· Have a strong interest in contemporary craft and art.

· Have access to and regularly use e-mail.

· Have flexibility in your schedule and can commit to one year, 4 hours per month.

· Can attend docent meetings on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month.

· Strength, dexterity, and mobility to perform all duties (to include standing, walking, and stair-climbing) as needed.

· Pass standard background check.

HOW TO BECOME A MUSEUM EDUCATOR

2. The Education Coordinator will contact the candidate to schedule a brief meeting to determine match.

3. Once appropriate placement has been determined, the candidate will attend a docent orientation meeting, at which time the candidate will be given required reading on Museum collection and contemporary craft to be completed before the first docent training meeting.

4. Next the candidate must attend docent training meeting(s), be paired with a docent mentor and shadow a minimum of three (3) scheduled tours before satisfactorily completing a mock tour in order to begin volunteering as a Museum Educator.
