Fuller Craft Museum Seeks “Pussyhat” Donations

pussyhat final smallOn January 21, 2017, millions of people marched in over 60 countries in a global show of support for civil rights, healthcare, and equality. Many of the marchers donned handmade pink hats as a collective visual statement, demonstrating fervent support for women’s rights. This worldwide initiative, the Pussyhat Project, resulted in the largest example of social activism through craft (craftivism) in U.S. modern history. https://www.pussyhatproject.com/

Fuller Craft Museum seeks to document this historic initiative by collecting donations of handmade Pussyhats for future museum exhibitions, programs, and archiving. While the long-term impact of this effort remains to be seen, it is critical that we mark this pivotal moment in U.S. and contemporary craft history. Help us as we preserve the power of the handmade and the stories that support it. If you have a handmade Pussyhat to donate, please contact Beth McLaughlin, Chief Curator at bmclaughlin@fullercraft.org for more information on how to donate. Thank you.
